PM Skirret Spoke on Strengthening Bilateral Ties with Russian Foreign Minister

On June 2nd, 2017, Hon. Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica met the Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the fringes of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov welcomed the Dominican delegates. The two leaders exchanged greetings and talked about the possibilities of bilateral ties and cooperation. The meeting was meant to create a roadmap to promote relations. The two parties discussed about the possibilities of expanding “political dialogue, social and humanitarian relations and economic trade” between Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union with the Caribbean states.
PM Roosevelt Skirret also talked about “sharing views on Russian Perspective on various important international issues” and encouraging political solutions for lasting peace on the international front. Prime Minister suggested of setting up a joint commission with Russia on development related to technical and scientific front.
Promoting diplomatic ties between the two countries, PM Skirret ended the meeting with an invitation to the Russian leadership to exchange a visit to the Caribbean.
The meeting will pave way for stronger relation between Russia and the Commonwealth of Dominica which will be beneficial for the socio-political status of Dominica.
